Comprehensive Pediatric Care: Free Growth, Airway & Function Orthodontic Evaluation (Ages 3 and Up)
Most parents wait until age 7 to think about orthodontics — by then, some problems that could have been guided gently now need extractions, headgear, or years of comprehensive braces later. A free evaluation with Dr. Mark Kurchak tells you, in plain language, whether your child is one of the kids who benefits from starting early.

Worth a second look
None of these mean something is definitely wrong. But any one of them is a good reason to get a professional opinion instead of wondering.
Resting or sleeping with the lips apart instead of closed can point to a narrow airway or jaw.
Tossing and turning, snoring, or grinding at night can trace back to a jaw that hasn't grown enough room yet.
Little to no gaps between baby teeth is one of the earliest, most visible signs of a narrow jaw.
A persistent thumb, finger, or tongue-thrust habit can quietly reshape the palate over time.
A lisp or difficulty with specific consonants sometimes has a structural, not just a speech, cause.
A crossbite or a visibly narrow upper jaw is easier to guide now than to correct later.
The golden window
Many general dental offices don't start looking until age 6 or 7, once most adult teeth are already in. We look earlier, while there's still room to guide growth instead of just reacting to it.
Every child is different, and early treatment isn't right for every case. It cannot guarantee that braces will be avoided later — but it does mean nothing gets missed, and every option stays on the table.
How we treat
We don't lead with technology — we lead with an exam. These are simply the tools Dr. Kurchak reaches for when they'll add real information to your child's plan.
A quick, no-goop iTero® scan builds a precise 3D model of your child's teeth and bite — no messy impressions required.
When breathing or sleep is a concern, a brief sound-based airway measurement adds useful, needle-free information to the exam.
Small wireless sensors rest lightly near the cheeks and temples during a short, guided clench, showing how your child's chewing muscles work together with their bite — painless, radiation-free, and built for kids.
For many younger kids, we start with a comfortable, removable appliance worn mostly at night — not fixed brackets and wires.
Curious what any of this would actually look like for your child? Give us a call — we're happy to walk through it before your visit.

Cost is usually the first worry parents bring up. We'd rather answer it up front than let it be the reason you put off an evaluation.
No charge for the first visit or exam, ever.

Meet your child's orthodontist
Dr. Kurchak is a board-certified orthodontist — a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists — who focuses specifically on early, interceptive care for growing kids. Rather than treating crooked teeth as a cosmetic problem to fix later, he looks at the whole picture: jaw growth, bite, oral habits, and airway health.
When something falls outside orthodontics — a breathing or sleep concern, for example — he'll say so directly and help coordinate with your pediatrician, ENT, or sleep specialist rather than guess.
Meet Dr. Kurchak at your child's free evaluationQuestions parents ask
By age 3, a lot of your child's growth pattern is already taking shape. Seeing kids early lets us use gentle, non-invasive guidance while the jaw is still developing, instead of reacting later with extractions or longer treatment.
Dr. Kurchak examines your child's teeth, bite, jaw growth, and habits, answers your questions in plain language, and tells you honestly whether treatment is or isn't needed right now — no pressure either way.
Then we'll tell you that, and simply recommend a check-back visit down the road. A lot of evaluations end with "let's keep watching" rather than a treatment plan — that's a normal, good outcome.
No referral is needed — you can book directly. We accept most major insurance plans and will check your coverage before any treatment begins, so there are no surprises.
